The Irish team pursuiters have faced off against Olympic medal winners USA in round one of the women's team pursuit at the UCI World Cup in Canada.
The Irish quartet were beaten by the Americans and so did not advance to the medal ride offs.
However, they had posted a solid performance in qualifying when they were in the ballpark of the new national record they set last year.
It was the same team in action in Milton, Canada, that broke that Irish marker last year; Kelly Murphy, Mia Griffin, Alice Sharpe and Lara Gillespie.

In the qualifying round they clocked a time of 4:26.405, just over one second slower than the personal best they set in Minsk last October when they did 4:25.389.
That time in Canada meant they finished 4th fastest of the seven teams in the event and they faced America in round one.
In that race the Americans went nearly three seconds faster than the 4:21.472 they set in qualifying.
The USA recorded a time of 4:18.783 when riding against the Irish, who did a time of 4:26.389; slightly faster than they had gone in qualifying but some way off the Americans.
At the time of writing the USA was set to race against France in the gold-silver ride-off with Belgium to face Canada in the bronze medal race.
