Aaron Doherty wins the Highfield Criterium promoted by Galway Bay Cycling Club.
Aaron Doherty
took victory in the Highfield Criterium in Galway last evening, attacking from
a group for a solo win.
The Bio-DHL-FRS
rider claimed the Galway Bay CC promotion in Highfield, Galway, by about 10
seconds.
His team mate
Sean Moore took 2nd place, edging out Mark Quigley (Strata 3-VeloRevolution).
In the A3 event Keith
Mulroy (Westport Covey Wheelers)
escaped with Galway Bay CC’s Feidhlim Dignan and Ruaidhri Geraghty.
However, while
Mulroy was outnumbered in that small lead group, he got the better of the
Galway men at the finish to win from Dignan and Geraghty.
In the A4 race three riders got clear early - James Tonra
(Castlebar CC), Kevin Molyneaux (Challenge CC) and Alan Kearney (Galway Bay CC).
They survived to
fight it out for victory, with Torna winning from Molyneaux and Kearney.
Michelle McKinney of promoting club Galway Bay CC was leading woman in the A4 race having placed 5th earlier in the day in the Naas Open TT.
