As the An Post Rás was due to reach its end in Skerries, north Co Dublin, today, photographer Stephen Kelleghan brings us this terrific set of photos.
He captured the county riders in this year’s Rás battling their way up the Coomanaspic category 1 climb on the Iveragh Peninsula in Co Kerry on Wednesday’s stage 4.
The race took the riders the 183.6km from Charleville to Cahirciveen.
The Coomanaspic was the first cat 1 ascent of this year’s race and was tackled when the riders already had 163.3km, that’s 102 miles, in their legs that day, not to mention the three stages before Wednesday’s action.
The race had already split to pieces over the previous nine categorised climbs on what was the queen stage of this year’s race.
