Cleo Harvey was pressed all the way by Jennifer Bates in the main event at the latest round of the Women's Summer Races in Corkagh Park, Dublin.

While both riders were among the
animators of the race, it was Harvey who picked her time to attack to perfection;
the Dublin Wheelers rider opening a decisive gap to win.

As she rode away from the group,
Bates (Weston Homes Torelli Assure) went after her. Though Bates was
closing on the lone leader all the way to the line, Harvey had enough in the
tank to make it all the way to the chequered flag.

She took the victory just ahead of Bates, who won the opening round last week. Just behind the duo out front, Catherine Mahoney (UCD Cycling Club) managed to get clear and took 3rd place.

And not long after she finished, Kate Earlie of promoting club St Tiernans CC won the sprint from the group for 4th place.

The early stages
of the race saw a strong breakaway go clear after Claire Ni Reachtagain (Sundrive Track
Team) put in a powerful attack to win the first prime.

Ni Reachtagain managed to gap the group and some of the others then began attacking and getting across to the Sundrive rider. Harvey, Earlie, Bates and Fiona Guihen all went on the attack and, along with Ni Reachtagain, former a formidable breakaway.

However, while that combination of firepower would have been expected to ride away, they were soon caught. Harvey and Bates went again but were caught again.

However, Harvey was soon on the move off the front again, this time on her own and making it all the way for an impressive win.

In the B race and breakaway group of five dominated proceedings. It was trimmed back to four by the final lap and on the line Charlotte Moore (Unattached) proved victorious from Olivia Moore (Unattached) and Gabriele Glodenyte (Unattached).
