David Hamilton has taken another fantastic result to continue North Down CC’s fantastic run this season, coming home a very strong winner at the end of the testing Tour of the Mournes this afternoon.
The winner of the John Moore Memorial in Carryduff back in February, when Hamilton came to the line today with Cuchulainn strong man Liam Dolan after 72 miles he hit the after burners to add what has always been a fantastic event to his palmares.
The victory comes after his team mate Dave Watson has lit up the racing scene this year by storming to a series of wins, including the overall victory in the Tour of the North where he won the final stage with the yellow jersey on his back.
Watson and Hamilton also took a 1-2 in the George Rooney Phoenix GP in February.

And to underline their club’s fantastic run of late, just yesterday they took the A4 event and the masters’ race at the Groucho GP in Richhill via Stephen Watty and Paul Kirk.
The winner and runner-up today, Hamilton and Dolan were part of a six man move that broke clear in windy conditions on the main road as the field raced towards Warrenpoint.
In that move with them were Glenn Kinning (Kinning Cycles), Darren McCarter (Donegal Bay CC), Jake Grey (NRPT Magnet.ie) and Fergus Rooney (Phoenix CC).
The leaders put the heads down and with such firepower up front a gap of over one minute opened, with McCarter and Rooney first to lose contact, making it four up front.
And though Grey is having a terrific season thus far with a number of very strong wins including two stages in the recent Lakeland Two Day and Kinning is one of the North’s strongest men; they were to lose their places up front after the climb at Rathfriland.

Hamilton and Dolan managed to distance them and hurtled towards the finish together, with the bunch closing down Kinning and Grey.
And that was the way the front of the race stayed; the two leaders surviving to the finish where Hamilton proved too strong for Dundalk’s Dolan.
Behind them, Gavin Magowan came home solo to take 3rd for Dromara, with the in-form Cathal Clarke of promoting club Newry Wheelers taking 4th.
In the bunch sprint for the minor placings, veteran Chris McCann (Dig Deep Coaching) got the better of emerging junior ride Marc Heaney of Carn Wheelers, with those two filling 5th and 6th places on the day.
