Paul Antoine Hagan has taken his biggest win and extended his great run of form of late with victory at the West Down Wheelers GP.

The Banbridge CC rider, only recently promoted to A2, went head-to-head with leading A1 riders and beat them from the breakaway.

Hagan (19) also had to contend with a tricky mechanical issue in the latter stages of the race as a gear cable on his bike broke and he was left stuck in his biggest gear.

But during the charge to the line he managed to get on top of the '11' sprocket to beat Lindsay Watson (Powerhouse Sport) and Darnell Moore (Caldwell Cycles) to the chequered flag.

Kevin McKinney (Armagh City) and Stuart Millar (Ards CC) also made the winning breakaway and in the sprint for victory they were 4th and 5th.

Hagan is no stranger to winning races and just last weekend he took victory in the A3 race at the Hilltown GP, which secured his promotion to the A2 ranks. Today's win was also the second time he had won the West Down GP as he took the race two years ago, also from a small breakaway.

More to come.
