Gribbon has too much in the tank for rivals at Audi GP

Ali Gribbon has taken a strong victory at East Antrim's Audi GP; getting clear in an eight-man escape and then forging clear later in the race to win.

The eventual winner, riding for Carn Wheelers, would initially miss the winning escape but after bridging across to it would emerge strongest in the final stages.

He got clear with Glenn Kinning (Kinning Cycles) and Aaron Swan (Team Madigan) and got the better of both in the closing exchanges.

The breakaway at first consisted of Paul Stenson of promoting club East Antrim Audi, along with North Down CC men Keith Philips and James Ambrose, Ballymoney CC’s Swan and Curtis Gilmore of Team Madigan.

While they worked well to establish a lead over the bunch, with four laps of the circuit remaining the group was joined by more firepower in the shape of Gribbon and Kinning.

And by the last lap when the attacking started it was Gribbon, Swan and Kinning who would forge clear never to be seen by the others again.

Approaching the finish, Gribbon got the better of the others to come home a few seconds ahead of Swan, with Kinning just behind him.
