One of the very best elite cyclocross riders in his heyday, Glenn Kinning is now into the Masters 40 ranks but shows no signs of the competitive instinct, or engine, waning any time soon.
The Kinning Cycles rider has retained his Masters 40 crown at the National Cyclocross Championships in Limerick today - see full results below - after a confident ride from gun to tape.
However, while Kinning was in the driving seat, he did not have it all his own way as his winning margin was down to just seconds on the line after six laps of racing.

Ronan O'Flynn (Orwell Wheelers) claimed silver, just 15 seconds down, though the leader's advantage really narrow on the final two laps when he had already put a very hefty deposit down on the gold medal and was minding himself as the finish line nearer.
Marcus Flavin (Dungarvan CC) claimed the bronze in the Greenmount Cycling Academy promotion. Flavin was involved a tight scrap with O'Flynn, finishing just four seconds down on the runner-up.
