Gareth O'Neill (Athlete Nutrition Coach HD) has won the inaugural McGinty Autumn Classic today, Sunday, when he really made the long trip to Wicklow worth his while to scoop the biggest pot in a one-day race this year.

The event, organised by Danny Conroy and his Bray Wheelers club, was billed as Ireland's richest race, with a €4,400 total prize fund across the two races and a budget for the promotion of up to €9,000.

O'Neill will definitely be buying the beers at any end-of-season celebration as the Ulster senior men's road race champion won €1,000 for his race victory today, a huge sum of money in the context of Irish cycling.

On a very tough day for racing in Co Wicklow, in very wet and windy conditions, O'Neill topped the podium in the main event from Lindsay Watson (Powerhouse Sport).

Javan Nulty (Unattached) was 3rd and is really hitting his stride now and showing his former powers after a big comeback.
