John Lynch (Murphy Surveyors) is clinging to a two second advantage going into tonight’s third and final stage of the Paddy Flanagan Two-Day in Kildare.
Lynch won yesterday’s opening stage from Joe Fenlon (Dan Morrissey Speedy spokes) and was fifth on this morning’s five-kilometre time trial. Crucially, all those who beat him this morning finished behind him on time yesterday, including the top three in the TT who were 47 seconds down at the finish of yesterday’s opening road stage.
That loss of 47 seconds comes as a real sickener to Ryan Sherlock (Cycleways) in particular who won this morning’s time trial in a blistering time of 7 minutes 11 seconds, with Ian Richardson (UCD) and Fiachra O’Mhuire (DID Dunboyne) six and nine seconds back respectively.

It promises to be a tension filled final criterium stage this evening with the top 10 riders separated by just 39 seconds.

Sherlock has moved up five places from 11th to sixth and is just 30 seconds down. He is expected to mount a strong challenge but Lynch has strength in depth with the backing of a team behind him in David Peelo, David Fitzsimons, Mark Kiernan, Alan Burke and John Gargan.
