Marcus Christie has won the men's race at first round of new National TT Series. Christie (Banbridge CC) beat Conn McDunphy (EvoPro Racing) into 2nd place by a margin of 27 seconds over the 25.19 mile course in Dungannon, Co Tyrone, today. Lindsay Watson (Powerhouse Sport) claimed 3rd, some 1:15 down on Christie's winning time of 50:37.
In the women's race, the battle for victory was much closer with Eva Brennan (UCD Cycling Club) winning in a time of 1:06:10, just two seconds faster than runner-up Ciara Havern (Newry Wheelers CC). Katie Neill (TC Racing) took 3rd in a time of 1:09:56.
In the junior men's race, Conal Scully (Carlow RCC) ran out the clear winner in a time of 52:39, some 50 seconds faster than Adam Rafferty (US Colombiers), who was 2nd. Liam O’Brien (Fermoy CC) placed 3rd in a time of 55:30.
The National TT Series is a new concept and will feature four rounds, one in each of the provinces, this year.
