Having a very good season to date and holding his own in the National Road Series, Derek Joyce has stormed in at the head of the breakaway to land the main event at the Crotty Cup in Kilmihil, Co Clare, today.
Joyce, who is 4th in the road series standings, saw off the challenge of the up and coming iTap rider Daire Feeley; the first-year U23 rider having foregone a ride in the Rás this year.
And rounding out the podium in the main event in Co Clare was Cathal Purcell (Carrick Wheelers).
In the A4 race, the contest came down to a bunch sprint which was won by Brian Ruane of Lucan CRC from Declan Shevlin (Limerick CC) and Michael O'Shea (Killorglin CC).
