Marcus Christie (Banbridge CC) claimed 'Round 2' of the Cycling Ireland National TT Series in Co Galway yesterday, recording a time of 48:41 on the 40km course.

Christie, who had represented Ireland and Northern Ireland on the road against the clock, was 30 seconds faster than Paul Kennedy of Burren Cycling Club. Tim Walton (St Tiernan's CC), fresh from his win at the Leinster TT Championships midweek, placed 3rd in a time of 52:12.

Ciara Havern Newry (Wheelers CC) was leading woman on the day, in a time of 01:04:09, with Anne Kelly of promoting club, Seven Springs CC, taking the runner-up spot in the test in Loughrea.
