Adam Ward (SmartDry Girona Cycling City) has taken his opening victory of the 2022 season today at the East Tyrone GP, promoted by East Tyrone Cycling Club. He got the better of Conor McCann (Inspired Cycling) and Shane Smyth (Moynalty Cycling Club) in Loup, Co Derry, in the main event.
Ward was well clear on his own at the finish, with McCann stealing a march on the bunch to take 2nd place just ahead of Smyth rounding out the podium.
The women's race was won by Clodagh Ní Ghallchóir (UCD Cycling Club) from Teresa Parr (Newry Wheelers CC) and Julie Rea (Phoenix CC). Ní Ghallchóir took a very clear win in a sprint from the front group.
