Ireland is sending a four-rider team to the European Cyclocross Championships in Holland this weekend.

There are no elite riders selected and Ireland is set to have riders in just two of the races; the U23 women's title race and the junior men's race.

Roisin Lally (Scott Quanta) and Darcy Harkness (VG Glendale) will compete in the U23 women's race. The junior men's team is comprised of Travis Harkness (VC Glendale) and Liam O'Brien (Fermoy Cycling Club).

All four Irish riders will be in action in Col du Vam on Sunday, with the junior men's race getting underway at 10am Irish time and the U23 women's race starting at 12:15pm.

Darcy Harkness has also ridden for Ireland on the big stage before now as she was selected onto the junior national team, alongside Lally, for the cyclocross Europeans in Italy at the end of 2019.

Both Liam O'Brien and Travis Harkness were U16 riders on the road this year but they have stepped up into the junior ranks for the 2021-2022 cyclocross season.

They were the best Irish finishers in the junior men's race at the UCI cyclocross fixture in Clonmel last month; O'Brien 3rd and Harkness 4th.

Harkness also took two medals in the U16 National Road Championships this year in Gorey, Co Wexford; claiming silver in the road race and bronze in the criterium.

O'Brien struck gold at those same championships; winning the U16 criterium title with a very impressive performance out front solo.
