Mark Dowling's recent stint racing in Belgium has done him no harm, having won the National Hill Climb Championships in Co Kerry this morning, Sunday.
Mark Dowling of the Polygon Sweet Nice team has today, Sunday, reclaimed the National Hill Climb Title he won two years back when riding with DID Dunboyne.
The new champion was just seven tenths of a second quicker than his former team mate in Polygon Sweet Nice, Ryan Sherlock, who had taken the title in Co Wicklow last year.
This morning’s race was promoted by Tralee CC and saw the riders battle it out up Foleys Glen on Sliabh Mish. The climb was 4km long, reaching a height of 310m. The average gradient was 8-10 per cent, with a maximum gradient of 17 per cent.
We'll have full coverage in a bit.
