
We may have lost the Dublin round of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup this week, but the good news is the domestic road season is just around the corner. And the first races of the year are already open for business.
The season opens on Saturday March 1st, when the Dublin Wheelers Open Races, including the headline Mick Lally Memorial, gets the Leinster campaign started in Summerhill, Co Meath. There are three races for; C1-C+ and the others for C2s and C3s and you can enter by following this link.
In Ulster - also on Saturday, March 1st - Banbridge CC host the Travers Engineering Annaclone GP in Co Down. There are two races; one for C1-C2 riders and the other for C3-C4. You can enter by following this link.
On Sunday, March 2nd, there are three races being promoted - in Munster, Ulster and Leinster, meaning plenty of choice for everyone.
In Munster, the Lacey Cup is being promoted by Manor West Tralee BC and the handicapped race, for all categories, is always a great battle. It starts from Tralee, Co Kerry - no surprise there - and you can enter by following this link.
In Ulster, Phoenix Cycling Club hosts its Phoenix GP - also on Sunday, March 2nd - with four races being run for C3s, Masters-Women, C1s, C2s. The races are based from Crumlin, Co Antrim, and you can enter by following this link.
In Leinster - also on Sunday, March 2nd - the Seamus Kennedy Memorial is being promoted by Navan Road Club, with race headquarters at Navan Racecourse. There will be four races - for C1s, C2s, C3s and women - and you can enter at this link.
The first stage race of the season - Rás Mhaigheo - takes place on Saturday and Sunday, March 22nd and 23rd, and is already open for entries at this link. Based out of Westport, Co Mayo, there are two stages - of 110km and a 7km TT - on Saturday and a 120km road stage on Sunday.
Looking a little further ahead, Dornan Rás Mumhan is also seeking entries already while the Gorey Three Day, another big Easter fixture, will also be open for business very soon.
