Fiona Mangan makes big statement with victory in Limerick | Video

Fiona Mangan's cycling career may be in its infancy but the Greenmount Cycling Academy rider has made a real statement in Limerick this weekend; announcing herself as one of the new top riders on the Irish scene.

The 25-year-old, who only started racing last year and has spent some of the Covid-19 period working and racing in Spain, today won her third stage in four days at the Women's Newcastle West Stage Race.

She sealed overall victory in the Newcastle West Wheelers event after taking the yellow jersey only yesterday from prologue TT stage winner Sharon Bird (Ballymena).

And at the end of today's stage 3 - which was eight laps of a 12km course based around Knockaderry - Mangan took the stage victory from a small group.

Mangan
won the final stage today in a sprint just ahead of Emma Jeffers (JRC Shutt Ridley) taking 2^nd and young junior
rider Aoife O’Brien putting in a great ride for Weston Homes-Torelli-Assure in
3^rd place.

Autumn Collins, who enjoyed a strong race for Greenmount CA in support of Mangan placed 4^th today with Emma Smith (Ireland B) in 5^th in a five-rider group credited with the same time as the winner today. Becky Woods (All human-VeloRevolution) was 6^th at three seconds.

Mangan finishes the race as the overall winner by 13 seconds from Bird, with Becky Woods (All human-VeloRevolution) in 3rd place at 30 seconds.
