Luke Goff of Slaney Cycling Club has won the final round of the Mondello Series for this season, after he and two fellow A4 breakaway riders held off the bunch in Co Kildare.

Goff came to the line with Nathan Van Steenberge (Orwell Wheelers) and Garret Kearney (Willow Wheelers CC) after they had broken free of the A4 limit group and survived out front to fight it out for the win.

Goff got the verdict in the three-up sprint from Kearney, with Van Steenberge just behind them rounding out the podium.

Toni Stojanov (Lucan Cycling Road Club) came through for 4th place after getting just clear of the bunch. He celebrated, with both hands up, in the apparent belief he had won the race, not knowing there were still three riders up the road.
