Irish track and road international Felix English has taken his first victory to seal his comeback from an injury hit period since first breaking his wrist early last year.

The UK-based rider last night came home the winner of the Beverley Town Criterium in East Yorkshire.

With a field featuring all of the best pro teams and top criterium riders on the UK pro scene, English forged his way into a five-man breakaway with JLT-Condor team mate Tom Moses for company.

With Moses providing the lead-out in the final dash to the line, English just about got the better of the in-form Jon Mould of One Pro Cycling.

It caps a turn in fortunes for English, who has also been recalled to the national track team in recent weeks.

He looked to have reached another level in the Herald Sun Tour in Australia at the start of last year with some fantastic time trial and sprinting form.

He took 4th in the opening time trial and also mixed it in the sprints in Australia, taking a number of podium placings.

His broken wrist soon followed and on his way back from a long lay-off he injured it again, meaning he has been sidelined or in comeback mode for almost 18 months.
