One of two Irish riders on the UK-based Rapha Condor JLT team, Felix English has taken a good result in the pro criterium circuit Tour Series.
The U23 international managed to infiltrate a four-man breakaway in the opening round of The Pearl Izumi Tour Series in Kirkcaldy, Fife, last night. He got clear just before the final intermediate sprint of the night with Yanto Barker (Team UK Youth), Tom Scully (Team Raleigh) and Mike Northey (Node4-Giordana).
The four worked very well together and opened a good gap on the chasing peloton. However, national criterium champion English then fell victim to cramp and was dropped by the other three.
He managed to survive to take fourth place, while the battle for the win was taken by Barker up ahead.
