Daire Feeley has taken another win on the home scene; the
Strata 3-VeloRevolution man finishing solo today in the main event at Rás Cill
Mocheallog in Co Limerick.
Having raced for
EvoPro Racing on the international stage last year Feeley has relocated back to
Ireland for this season and has now taken a string of wins.
His victory on
Sunday brings his tally to seven to date, not to mention three 2nd places,
despite such a large chunk of the season having been lost to the
Covid19-related suspension in race.
His latest triumph followed an aggressive ride in the main event, promoted by Kilmallock Cycling Club when he went clear early in a four-man breakaway.

He later took off
from that group solo a long way out; clearly riding at present with as much
confidence as form.
In that move with
him, which went clear on the first lap of four, was his team mate Mark Dowling
along with Shane O’Connell of Blarney CC and national junior road race champion
Tom Moriarty of O’Leary Stone Kanturk.
However, while
there was plenty of firepower in that breakaway group, the gap between it and
the main bunch was a modest one initially, though the 2km climb each lap soon
strung the field out.
While Spellman Dublin Port had missed the move and were giving chase in the bunch behind, Feeley attacked again on the climb on the second lap and got clear of the trio he was with.

By the next lap
he had powered clear of the three chasers and enjoyed a significant gap of well
over one minute, leaving himself to keep his focus for the remaining lap before
finishing solo for victory.
The three chasers
stayed clear of those behind, with Dowling taking 2nd place for a Strata
3-VeloRevolution 1-2 followed by O’Connell and teenager Moriarty.
The pressure of the course and pace of the chase saw the next riders home well strung out; Dermot Radford (Club Rothaíochta na Sionainne) taking 5th place, with a gap to Ronan Killeen (Lucan CRC) in 6th.
He was followed by Don Lapierre of Blarney CC, Joel Luke (UCD Cycling Club), Paul O’Connell (Newcastlewest CC) and Daryl Kearns (Panduit Carrick Wheelers).

The A3 race came
down to a two-man sprint between Enda Murray (Burren CC) and Jordan
Luke (Newcastlewest CC), with Murray getting the verdict.
Cormac Shaughnessy (Kilcullen
CC) led home a chasing group for 3rd,
from Alan Lyons (Team
Bikeworx), Tom Shanahan (Limerick CC).
A few seconds
later Vincent Gleeson (Greenmount
CA) won the bunch sprint for 6th from Richard
Quinn (CRNS) and Cathal Dillane (Galway Bay CC).
The A4 race came
down to a bunch sprint; won by Padraig O’Sullivan (Limerick CC) from Luke Goff (Slaney
CC) and Kevin Caulfield (Greenmount CA), with Fiona Mangan (Greenmount CA) winning the women’s
category.
