EvoPro Racing has announced the signing of no fewer than nine Irish riders for next year, when the Irish Continental team will also run a new development academy in conjunction with Cycling Ireland.
Stickybottle earlier reported that Cycling Ireland and EvoPro Racing will launch a "Rider Development Academy” in 2022, with selected Irish riders set to live and train at the EvoPro Racing base in Belgium.
They will race from that base and can be called up to the EvoPro Racing team for pro races. The riders will also be available for Irish team duties when selected and EvoPro's facilities - including vehicles and service course - will be used for the national team.
EvoPro Racing has this evening revealed it will have nine Irish riders on its roster for next season.
They are: Tom Moriarty, Cian Keogh, Mitchell McLaughlin, Conor McCann, Conn McDunphy, Fintan Ryan, JB Murphy, Liam Curley and Sean Nolan.
The fact a UCI Continental team will have nine Irish cyclists next season is a massive boost for the sport in Ireland, especially as development opportunities have been limited this year and last due to the pandemic.
More to come.
