Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) has made an incredible comeback, after his crash-related lay-off, to beat Wout van Aert (Visma-Lease a Bike) in a two-man battle at the end of Brabantse Pijl.
Though Van Aert would normally be the clear favourite in a fight to the finish with Evenepoel, his difficult 2025 season is now starting to look like a crisis having been beaten by his Belgian rival, who is not regarded as a fast finisher.
After 163km of racing, the duo raced into the finish in Overijse almost 30 seconds ahead of a chasing group, with Evenepoel leading out a tactical finish and Van Aert never getting close to him.
Indeed, it appeared to take Van Aert everything he had just to stay in Evenepoel's wheel, even though the former world champion was only starting his season today after a bad training ride crash back in December.
