Ireland's sole track Olympian at the Rio 2016 Games, Shannon McCurley has made a successful transition from sprinting to endurance with silver in the scratch race at the European Championships in Holland this evening.
The Australia-based Irish international had switched in recent years from sprinting and keirin racing to the longer events on the track.
And in winning her silver medal at elite level in the Europeans, that transition can now be declared a real success.
Emily Nelson of Great Britain did an incredible late turn on the front of the bunch and held on for the gold medal.
However, McCurley positioned herself on the British rider's wheel and with the rest of the field - including track and road legend Kirsten Wild of the Netherlands - unable to gain ground, McCurley took a brilliant silver in a stacked field.
Just behind her, Maria Martins of Portugal took the bronze medal to round out the podium.
More to come.
