Emma Smith of Navan Road Club has taken victory in the main event at the latest round of the Women's Cycling League in Corkagh Park, Dublin.

The 17-year-old proved too quick for her rivals in the final sprint to the line after the honours were settled in a sprint despite aggressive racing last night. Orla Walsh (Torelli Cayman Islands Scimitar) was 2nd and Olivia Moore (Unattached) rounded out the podium.

In the handicapped event, it was eventual 3rd place finisher Moore who took up the pace in the scratch group. She worked on the front to bring cancel the 30 second advantage given to the limit riders at the start.

Once the catch was made, Torelli Cayman Islands Scimitar's Walsh and Jennifer Bates, the new Leinster TT champion, took turns to try and work over their rivals; launching repeated attacks.

However, while both Bates and Walsh managed to get clear at different times, and pulled out decent gaps, the Moore twins - Olivia and Charlotte - were to the fore in reeling them back in.

And though Bates put in one last big effort off the front solo with three laps remaining, she was once again brought back, paving the way for the group sprint won by young Smith.
