Having finished in the main bunch on this morning's opening stage of the A4 race at the Wexford Two Day, Dublin Wheelers' Edward Brennan proved strongest of the 61-rider field in the time trial stage 2 this afternoon.
Brennan clocked a time of 8mins 1.18secs on the 3.6km hill climb test at Larkins Cross, just one second faster than Newry Wheelers' Andrew Hicks who came home in 2nd place.
There was a gap of a further three seconds to 3rd place Hugh Power of South East Road Club before a bigger gap, of 8 seconds, separated him from Stephen Barry of Orwell Wheelers.

The winner of this morning's 78km road stage, French rider Vincent Pennec (Eclanderneau) came home in 7th place in the afternoon time trial and so loses his yellow jersey.
Brennan now leads by just one second from Hicks going into tomorrow's final stage; a road race of some 80km.
The Dubliner will be hoping for a bunch sprint and to finish as far up the field as he can in order to avoid any gaps in the group that would cost him his jersey.
However, with some 27 riders covered by one minute on the general classification, the race for overall victory is still wide open.
