The O'Leary Stone Kanturk teenager, who was riding for the Stena Ireland team this week, stamped his authority all over the race by winning stage 3 alone by over two minutes after going clear in a breakaway and riding everyone off his wheel.
While his lead was threatened a number of times since then, Dunbar and his team rode very well to protect his winning margin. Ireland team mates Dylan Foley and Thomas Fallon proved very strong this week in riding for him after Matthew Doyle was forced out of the race with a health issue.
First year junior Dunbar lose not time at all to his rivals since taking overall lead and when the road went up at the finish again today, he once again proved best.
Dunbar will go on with great confidence to the upcoming European Road Race Championships in just under two weeks where Danny Bruton (NRPT-Standard Life) and Ciaran Campbell (Drogheda Wheelers) will ride in support of him on an undulating course that should suit him.
Dunbar is a young rider who has really emerged in recent months as one of the very best young riders in Ireland. He rode a super race this week and from all at stickybottle we'd like to say a massive congratulations to him.
