Eddie Dunbar, Egan Bernal strongest for Team Ineos in Italy finale

Eddie Dunbar put in a strong ride in Italy today and helped team mate Egan Bernal to take 2nd place

Eddie Dunbar has put in a very strong ride to take 6th in the Giro della Toscana Italian classic today.

The young Irishman rode a very solid but defensive finale after team mate Egan Bernal pulled a breakaway clear on the final climb.

The Colombian, who was returning to racing after a long break in Colombia following his Tour de France win, looked strong despite his recent absence from the peloton.

Once he got clear in a four-man move Eddie Dunbar and Diego Rosa marked the counter attacking in the chasing group.

Their work helped to ensure nobody got across to the four leaders, who eventually pulled out a gap of one minute.

Dunbar then got clear of the chasers in the finale to take 6th place, some 53 seconds down on winner Giovanni Visconti (Neri Sottoli-Selle Italia-KTM).
