Recently crowned Irish junior road race champion, Eddie Dunbar stormed into the yellow jersey at the Junior Tour of Wales today after a typically aggressive stage in the saddle saw him solo to victory by over three minutes.

Dunbar spent most of the 72km stage 2 from Brynmawr to Llangynidr Mountain out front in a three man move that built up a four and a half minute lead on the peloton.

As the trio approached the climb to the finish howver, Dunbar made his excuses and left the group, riding solo to the top, where he crossed the line two minutes and 43 seconds ahead of second placed Alexander Baybrooke Velocity WD40, with Leon Mazzone of the Isle of Man third at 3’53”.

Having finished fifth in this morning's opening time trial, Dunbar now leads the race overall by three minutes and four seconds from Baybrooke with Matthew Gibson best of the rest at 4’21”.

Dunbar's Munster Sensa teammates Dylan O'Brien finished sixth on today's stage, with Stephen Shanahan 15th and Dara O'Mahony 32nd.
