Kate Earlie has taken victory in the main event at the
latest round of the Women’s Cycling League while Gabriel Goldenyte won the B
Race for the second time in as many weeks.

Earlie (St Tiernans CC) won in a sprint from a three-rider breakaway, which had been created when Jennifer Bates (Torelli Assure Cayman Scimitar) attacked late in the contest last night in Corkagh Park, Dublin.

Once Bates made her move, Earlie joined her off the front of the bunch. As they began to move clear of the group, Eva Brennan sensed the danger and went after them.

The Deenside Wheelers rider got across to the leading duo, completing the winning attack on the night. Niamh Stephens (Giant Liv) and Aideen Keenan (Dublin Wheelers) had earlier animated the racing.

On the penultimate lap the three leaders had a significant gap of about 30 seconds. And though things got cagier up front on the last lap, the breakaway trio stayed clear to fight it out.

Bates led out the final sprint but was beaten to the line
by winner Earlie and runner-up Brennan. Behind them, the sprint from the
chasing bunch for 4th place was taken by Navan Road Club’s Emma Smith.
