Fresh from their TT gold medal and road race silver at the Paracycling World Road Championships in Holland last week, Katie George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal have been victorious in the green of Ireland again.

The Paralympic and world champions won the women's tandem road race in Yorkshire yesterday.

They triumphed from an international field in what was the curtain raiser for the World Road Championships starting today with the elite mixed relay TTT.

Yesterday the Irish women arrived at the finish line alone with plenty of tine to savour the moment at the finish in Harrogate.

And while the Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling International was not a title event, the crowds flocked to the roadside to see the action.

The Irish women pressed hard from the start yesterday and were only matched in any serious way by the Team GB pairing of Lora Fachie and Corrine Hall.

However, with Dunlevy and McCrystal upped the pace on the undulating roads around Wetherby they pulled clear and rode away to win.

This time around, however, the Irish women were not the only rides in green to shine.

Ronan Grimes finished his race in a group of C5 riders, which proved enough to claim the C4 category victory on the day.

Declan Slevin won his H3 handcycling race and on the men's tandem Paul Forristal and Damien Vereker were 2nd behind Team GB's Steven Bate and Adam Duggelby.
