
Ireland's Eddie Dunbar in yellow at the Junior Tour of Wales; he has just the final stage to the top of the infamous Tumble Mountain to come tomorrow, Monday.
Kanturk’s Eddie Dunbar held onto his yellow jersey of race leader at the Junior Tour of Wales after another two stages today, Sunday.
Dunbar finished ninth on this morning’s third stage, a 10 lap-race based on a 2.9km circuit, 15 seconds behind stage winner Oliver Maxwell.
This afternoon, Dunbar’s Munster Sensa teammate Stephen Shanahan took tenth on stage four.
Dunbar again kept control of the race lead with 16th on the stage, which was won by triple European track championship medalist Gabriel Cullaigh of RST Racing.
Dunbar has just one stage left, a 94.5km road race to the top of the infamous Tumble Mountain to hold onto his race lead of over three minutes from Velocity’s Alexander Baybrooke.
The Irish junior international gained all of his time on the 72km hilly stage 2 yesterday afternoon when he rode away from his rivals in a three man escape.
He won the stage by 2:43 from Baybrooke, over whom he now holds a lead of 3:04. Baybrooke's team mate Matthew Gibson is third overall, at 4:16
