Doherty takes first Irish senior title in Limerick, Harvey adds to growing collection

Aine Doherty (Dan Morrissey Pissei Cycling Team) and Dean Harvey (Martigues Sport Cyclisme) have proven victorious in the senior women's and men's races at the National Criterium Championships in Limerick City.

It was a first Irish senior title for Doherty, with Harvey adding to his growing collection, including winning the U23 road race crown already in his career and winning his third consecutive cyclocross title in Ballinasloe, Co Galway, back in January.

Indeed, the win this evening by Harvey on the city centre King's Island course means he is the holder of those three Irish titles at the same time.

Now based in France, where he recently won the Prix de Aubagne one-day race, Harvey had too much class this evening, emerging the clear victor, some four seconds of ahead of JB Murphy (Kilcullen Cycling Club Murphy Geospacial).

Just seven seconds after Murphy crossed the line for the sliver medal came the two-up battle for bronze, with Luke Smith (Moynalty CC) just about edging out Jack Conroy (Bray Wheelers)

In the women's race, a group of three emerged at the front as the race progressed through 40 minutes around the right city lap.
