Paul Doherty has claimed victory at the Derrymacash GP in Lurgan. The Four Masters CC rider broke clear with Conor Grimes of Clann Eireann CC before pressing on alone to win.
Grimes survived to take 2nd place in the race after he had been in a four-man group that Doherty attacked in pursuit of. Doherty caught those riders on his own and went through them; getting away solo again and taking a clear victory.
The race, promoted by Clann Eireann CC, was for A3 and A4 riders only, consisting of 8 laps of a 5.67 mile circuit. The A4s received a generous 4:30 handicap.
David Dougan (Ballymena RC) put in a great finish back in the bunch to take the sprint for 3rd place by a considerable margin. He sprinted in ahead of Bottecchia RC team mates Keith Raymond and Vincent Doherty in 4th and 5th, with Stephen Fitzsimmons (Banbridge CC) placing 6th.
More to come.
