
The Des Hanlon Memorial may be the biggest road race in the country this weekend but it's not the only show in town as hundreds of riders will also be pinning on numbers in counties Meath and Mayo.
On Saturday, Jons Drogheda Wheelers hosts its very popular Boyne Grand Prix, with three races down for the decision on the 16km course based out of race headquarters at Rathkenny GAA Club.
The first of the races - for A1-A2 riders and separate events for A3s and A4s - starts at 10am and the other two start at three minute intervals.
The A4 race is four laps while the A3s doing five laps and the A1-A2 riders will race for six laps; each event featuring a new finish at Rathkenny Church.
You can view the course by following this Strava link and you can enter the races here. And while the Boyne GP is the only road race being promoted on Saturday, there are two promotions on Sunday.
The Des Hanlon Memorial takes place in Co Carlow, and is promoted by Carlow Road Cycling Club, while the Castlebar GP is being run in Co Mayo and is being organised by Castlebar Cycling Club.
There are four races at the Des Hanlon - race headquarters is at Leinster Marts Killeshin Road - with the events due to roll out from 12 noon. The two main events, for men and women, are Round 1 of the Cycling Ireland National Road Series.
The A1-A2 men will race for 144km while the women's race is 100km. There are also separate races for A3s and A4s, of 100km and 67km respectively. You can enter any of the four races by following this link.
Over in Co Mayo, the Castlebar GP races will roll out from race headquarters at An Sportlann from 11am. There are two separate races; one for A1-A2-A3 riders, of 97km, and one for A4s, over 60km.
