
Johan Price-Pejtersen has won the gold medal in the U23 TT at the UCI World Road Championships in Flanders today. The 22-year-old from Denmark won the rainbow bands less than two weeks after being crowned U23 TT European champion.
Luke Plapp, the 20-year-old Australian who has just joined Ineos Grenadiers, took the silver medal while Florian Vermeersch, a 22-year-old Belgian in his first season with Lotto Soudal, claimed the bronze.
Price-Pejtersen, who is contracted to Uno-X Pro Cycling Team until the end of 2022, went around the 30.3km course into Bruges today in a time of 34:29, in an average speed of 52.721km per hour. Plapp was just 10 seconds down and Vermeersch 11 seconds off the winner.
Kevin McCambridge and Irish U23 TT champion Ben Healy were in action for Ireland in the TT. Healy placed 31st at 1:59 and McCambridge finished 39th at 2:13.
