Dean Harvey (Spellman Dublin Port) has limbered up for Rás Tailteann, which begins next Wednesday, with two midweek wins. On Wednesday he won the opening round of the Fit Studio NI Kirkstown Series after attacking about halfway through the race and riding to the line solo.
On Tuesday night Harvey (19) was also best at the the Eddie Crory Memorial after he and Paul Antoine Hagan (Banbridge CC) came to the line together in a two-up sprint in Rathfriland.
On the second lap of three in the handicapped race Harvey and Hagan got clear of the scratch group with Alan Bingham (Newry Wheelers) and Lindsay Watson (Powerhouse Sport). They caught and went through the limit group, before the race had to be neutralised for a period on the final lap due to a tractor on the course.
When the action got going again the riders raced onto the climb of Rathfriland to the finish line, with Harvey and Hagan pulling clear on the incline for what was a very tight gallop to settle 1st and 2nd. Nathan Mullan (Dromara CC) rounded out the podium just behind them
