
Darren Rafferty has lived up to his pre-race favourites tag at the National Cyclocross Championships where he took the junior gold medal this morning.
The Island Wheelers rider proved best in very muddy conditions in Enniscrone, Co Sligo, on a day when large gaps emerged between the riders.

Rafferty claimed the junior title, at the first time of asking, from Fionn Desmond (MBCC) and Dean Harvey (VC Glendale).
