
Irish cycling brothers Darren and Adam Rafferty were in action at the Chrono des Nations season-ending TT in France today when they got into the mix in the U23 and junior races.
Ben Healy (EF Education First) was also in the elite race today and placed 12th. He was 2:05 down on winner Stefan Küng (Groupama - FDJ), who beat new world champion Tobias Foss (Jumbo Visma) by just two seconds in the 45.43km test. Giro TT stage winner Matteo Sobrero (BikeExchange-Jayco) was 3rd at 11 seconds.
In the U23 race, over the short distance of 27.23km in Les Herbiers, Darren Rafferty (Hagens Berman Axeon) placed 6th in the 21-rider field. The Irish rider was 1:47 down on U23 world championships silver medalist Alec Segaert (Lotto-Soudal U23).
The man who won the U23 TT at the Worlds, Søren Wærenskjold (Uno-X Pro Cycling Team) placed 2nd at 42 seconds with Pierre Thierry (Arkéa Samsic) in 3rd at 1:38.
In the junior TT, also 27.43km, Adam Rafferty (Team 31 Jolly Cycles) placed 6th some 1:20 down on new junior world champion Joshua Tarling (Flanderscolor-Galloo Team). Titouan Fontaine (Vélo Club Villefranche Beaujolais) was 2nd at 16 seconds while Baptiste Gillet (VC Pays de Loudéac) was 3rd at 44 seconds.
