Dan Martin wins big on Vuelta; overpowers Roglic, Carapaz | Video

Dan Martin started his sprint 200 metres from the finish line and though it was all uphill, and though he had Richard Carapaz and Primoz Roglic on his wheel, the Irish rider took an excellent win

Dan Martin has taken a fantastic win on La Vuelta, claiming stage 3 in brilliant style when he simply overpowered some of the best riders in the world.

After making the select group for the third day in a row,
Martin opened his uphill sprint a long way from the line but held on to win.

While Richard Carapaz (Ineos Grenadiers) and race leader
Primoz Roglic (Jumbo Visma) scrambled onto the back wheel of the Irishman they
were unable to get around him.

Indeed, as he has done so often when taking the really big wins in his career; Martin reached for the afterburners in the uphill sprint and had the stamina and power to keep it going all the way to the line.

He claimed the victory on the stage from Lodosa to La
Laguan Negra Vunuesa ahead of Roglic in 2nd place and Carapaz in 3rd.
