Daire Feeley (All human-VeloRevolution) has won the main event at the Connacht Road Race Championships, taking the A1 provincial title in the process.
Former world junior road race champion, Mark Scanlon, was 2nd in today's race and is now the Connacht Masters 40 road race champion.
Roscommon man Feeley didn't hang around today in the Yeats Country CC promotion; attacking from the gun in Tullynagracken South, Co Sligo, and riding the four 25km laps out front on his own.
That was a really impressive win by the prolific Feeley, who is top of the Cycling Ireland A1 rankings and also leads the National Road Series. At the finish today he had about four minutes in hand on an eight-rider chasing group.

And among that chasing group was the man who gave Irish cycling one of its very biggest moments; Mark Scanlon.
Competing for Bottecchia Racing Club, the 1998 world junior champion has ridden some races in recent years and while today was his first outing of the season, he made the chasing group and won the sprint from it for 2nd place.
Also with him and that group were: Niall
McLoughlin (Westport Covey Wheelers CC) in 3rd, Rory Gallagher (Castlebar CC) 5th,
Cian Noone (Challenge CC) 6th, David Walshe (Castlebar CC) 7th, Barry Holian (Western
Lakes CC) 8th and Richard Meaney (Westport Covey) in 9th. Wheelers CC. Tom
Regan (Seven Springs CC) rounded out the top 10.
While Feely was crowned A1 Connacht champion, Noone took silver and Walsh bronze. The women’s provincial crown was taken by Heather Foley, for host Yeats Country Cycling Club, from Sara Canny of Western Lakes CC.
