Daire Feeley (All human-VeloRevolution) wrapped up overall victory in the Cycling Ireland National Road Series last month and now the Roscommon man is keeping the ball rolling into the last weeks of the 2024 season by taking another win.
Though this evening's Maxi Maguire Cup was very aggressive, with attack after attack, nothing stuck until a dangerous move, made up of some very good riders, got clear with about 2km to go to the finish.
In that group were Javan Nulty (Unattached Leinster), Luke Smith (Moynalty CC) and Nathan Mullan (Velo Café Magasin), among others.
However, while the leaders dangled off the front of the bunch as the finish line neared, the sprint back in the chasing pack began and long way out, with the front of the peloton overhauling the leaders just before the finish.
Feeley came through from the bunch to take the victory ahead of junior international, and Junior Tour of Ireland stage winner, Max Fitzgerald (Jegg Academy).
Michael Gammell (Burren CC) rounded out the podium on the night in the Navan Road Club promotion - the race formerly the Beechmount GP - while Nathan Mullen (Velo Café Magasin) took 4th.
Gareth O'Neill (Athlete Nutrition Coach) and Joseph Mullen (Zappi Racing) placed 5th and 6th.
More to come.
