Daire Feeley is your winner on the 6th round of Cycling Ireland's National Road Series as he bested Jamie Meehan and Liam Crowley in a sprint finish.

Feeley bided his time, as did many riders, in today's race due to the competitiveness the race presented. Feeley said after the race, "We had to work hard for that win! There were a couple of points where I was saying to myself 'Will I be happy with second or third?'."

Similarly to the women's race that preceded them, a fast pace set by the main group prevented and squashed many attacks. The speed remained effective in this way until the very last lap when Daire Feeley, Liam Crowley, Jamie Meehan Eoin Kelly found themselves at the front.

The latter breakaway rider withered away from the lead group as Kelly was unable to keep up with the tempo. Despite the efforts of several chasers, the finish would ultimately be contested between the three at the front.

Jamie Meehan attempted to put in some late attacks within the final 2km which distanced Liam Crowley from the front, however Feeley remained strong and stuck with the Mountcharles man. Meehan's bursts were perhaps an indication that he didn't fancy a sprint finish against Feeley, these doubts would have been correct as the 2022 Rás winner showed his experience.

Feeley simultaneously closes the gap to the series leader Conn McDunphy with just one round to race. Things are hotting up.
