Cycling Ireland has published criteria for those riders hoping to be selected onto the Irish team for the UCI eSports World Championships on December 8th.
The criteria do not involve specific results that will automatically secure selection, or put some riders ahead of others in the selection contest. However, performance at one upcoming nominated race will count in the selection process based on three criteria headings.
The other two headings are (1) recent results and (2) a power file will also be considered for each interested rider when the team is being selected.
The nominated race is the final round of the Cycling Ireland eRacing Winter League on December 2nd at 7pm. Anyone competing in that race - organised in conjunction with RWB - who is aiming for Worlds selection must compete for all primes in the race.
Cycling Ireland said points will be on offer in all primes and there will also being finishing points awarded, with the points tallied for each rider counting towards the selection process.
Aside from performance in that event on December 2nd, two other criteria are also set down:
- Past performances on Zwift over the past 4-6 months
- Power profile suited to the world championship format
Anyone wishing to be considered as part of the selection process must race in the nominated event on December 2nd under additional requirements (below), like those used by all Zwift racing athletes in the recent 'Continental qualifier events' and they must provide the required evidence on the morning of the event.
Those requirements are:
- Must be a Member of Cycling Ireland
- Height / Weight verification
- Must dual record (Provide data within 90mins post event)
- Must wear Heart Rate Monitor
Riders can submit their data up until midday on December 2nd via the form available here. Information on the consideration race, protocols and requirements can be found at this link. You can also Contact [email protected] for more information.
