Liam Crowley (Orwell Wheelers) has powered his way to his fourth win of the season after proving best last night, Tuesday, at the Mondello Series after a C3 breakaway gave the large chasing bunch a real scare.

Crowley has been in flying form since the start of the 2026 campaign and celebrated his selection onto the Irish team for Rás Tailteann, for the second time in his career, in real style at Mondello Park, Co Kildare.

It was an aggressive race in the early stages among the C1s and C2s, with many riders attacking in a bid to get a breakaway group going rather than prioritising the pursuit of the C3 limit group.

However, though it took the scratch riders longer than usual to get to the front of the race, the catch of the C3 bunch was made with about three laps remaining.

But even then, a C3 breakaway was still clear and the pursuit of that group went down to the wire as they were only caught deep into the final lap of the race.

Rounding the last bend, eventual winner Crowley made a move up the inside, coming into the finishing straight in the top five.

He then opened the throttle, galloping in for victory ahead of Mark Dowling (VeloRevolution-SpeedQueen) and Rian Cahill (Athy Wheelers).

Andy Maguire (Team Stafford Bonded) was 4th with Luca Holmes (Velo Performance U23 Development Team) 5th and Matthew Walls (APS Pro Cycling by Team Cadence Cyclery) in 6th.
