Erin Creighton (McConvey Cycles) has won the junior women's road race at the National Road Championships in Kanturk, Co Cork, today, after she was part of a three-ride move that dominated the race.
Creighton, who won four national titles on the track on the same day last month, was today best in the sprint to the finish line. Last year's title winner, Aoife O’Brien (Torelli-Assure-Cayman Islands-Scimitar), was 2nd.
Shauna Finn of Newcastle West CC claimed the bronze medal, which she adds to the gold she took in the junior women's TT on Thursday night, making for a fantastic championships for the emerging Limerick athlete.
Likewise, Creighton was today collecting her second medal of these championships as she won bronze in the junior TT on Thursday.
Today the juniors raced over one lap of the 59km circuit being used this weekend and the eventual medal winners soon emerged out front as the other riders, in what was a small field, began being dropped.
More to come.
