The Irish team endured a difficult final day of action at the European Track Championships in Switzerland after a crash derailed the efforts of Alice Sharpe and Lara Gillespie in the Madison. While they were able to complete their race, the incident ended their chances of security a strong result.

Also in action today for Ireland were Conor Rowley and Orla Walsh, who competed in the men's and women's keirin events, with neither able to advance to the second round.

In the women's Madison it was Sharpe who took a tumble on the velodrome in Grenchen and while she got up, dusted herself down and rejoined Gillespie to complete the race, any prospect of a top result was gone. In the end, the Irish women finished in 12th position in the 13-team race.
