Craig Rea takes Spires GP main event in Ballyronan from Marc Heaney

Craig Rea, leading, has taken the main event at the Spires Grand Prix in Ballyronan, Magherafelt, today.

The Phoenix CC man was quickest to the line from the winning breakaway and took victory from Marc Heaney of Carn Wheelers, while Angus Fyffe of Tomac CC rounded out the podium.

Promising junior rider Aaron Swan (NRPT-Magnet.ie) was 4th, having come home for the win in the A3 event at the Cycleways Cup in a two-man move with team mate Adam Stenson last Sunday.

Ireland U23 international Conor McIlwaine (AAA) was 5th while Rea's team mate Mike Millar rounded out the placings in the main event.
