Conor Murphy may still be a first-year junior but his victory today in Italy puts him on the radar of major international teams already

Conor Murphy, the Irish junior rider competing with French team U19 Academy Région Sud powered by Giant, has claimed a huge win in Italy today.

The 17-year-old was a solo victor at the end of 111.6km of racing from Siena to Montalcino in Eroica Juniores-Coppa Andrea Meneghelli (1.1).

The race, which is effectively the junior version of Strade Bianche, saw Murphy triumph from an international field of 140 riders, taking a victory that will now really put him in the radar for U23 and senior teams looking for talent, though he is still a first-year junior.
